The Importance of Standards and Current Landscape

  • November 9, 2022

How do we evolve for 5G and beyond?

Standards play an essential role in the tactical growth of advanced technology. As continued iterations of emerging innovations proliferate throughout the global ecosystem, the need for interoperability across devices and systems becomes more and more important.

This panel, moderated by Barbara Pareglio, features an in depth discussion ranging from why standards are important from a general perspective to how 5G impacts them and the challenges the industry faces with the seemingly endless introduction of new verticals.

Sebastian Thalanany provides an essential background on the importance of standards as they relate to interoperability, necessitated by an interconnected globe with different regulations, different demographics, and different requirements for access. Adrian Buckley speaks on the continually expanding scope of standards, exacerbated by the growing presence of 5G. Wanshi Chen speaks to the particular challenges presented by the wide range of capabilities that these standards must accommodate.

A fascinating discussion between four experts in the field, this panel is essential viewing for anyone interesting in this important aspect of our industry’s growth.

Moderator: Barbara Pareglio, Executive Director, Advanced Air Mobility, GSMA
