Leading the BVLOS Revolution at NCDoT

Riley Beaman, UAS Program Manager for the North Carolina Department of Transportation Aviation Division, joins Open Generation’s March 2023 Government Roundtable for a rousing discussion on the future of statewide adoption of uncrewed aerial systems flown over 5G. One of the most innovative transportation departments in the country, Beaman is at the forefront of implementing BVLOS (beyond visual line of sight) drone usage for everything from public safety to feedings at the zoo. In a discussion moderated by MITRE Engenuity’s Brian Zelley, Beaman shares his insight and expertise on how North Carolina, the birthplace of aviation, is continuing to serve as a model for other states, particularly when it comes to educating/training the future UAS pilots of tomorrow.
